Seller's Notes

The 2014 Mustang GT represents the final chapter of the S197 generation, and it goes out with the kind of loud, unapologetic muscle-car attitude that helped rekindle the Mustang’s relevance in the modern era. While its basic platform dates back to 2005, the 2014 GT still manages to feel raw, charismatic, and unmistakably American.

Performance

At the heart of the GT lies the now-iconic 5.0-liter Coyote V8, pushing out 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. It revs eagerly, sounds fantastic, and provides strong, linear pull all the way to the redline. Whether paired with the 6-speed manual or the 6-speed automatic, the GT is quick—mid-4-second 0–60 mph times are easily achievable with the manual and a good launch.

Handling is more composed than older Mustangs, especially when equipped with the Brembo Brake Package or the Track Pack, but this is still a car that prefers power over precision. The solid rear axle gives the GT an old-school feel: wonderfully controllable when you want to get sideways, slightly unsettled on rough pavement.

Interior & Features

Inside, the 2014 GT mixes retro cues with modern conveniences. The dual-cowl dashboard and large analog gauges fit the car’s character well. Material quality is acceptable—good for its price segment at the time, but not luxurious. Options like Recaro sport seats, SYNC connectivity, and various appearance packages let buyers tailor the experience.

Rear seats are cramped, as expected in a coupe, but the trunk is surprisingly usable. Visibility is decent, though the long hood and high beltline can take some getting used to.

Styling

This final S197 facelift still looks aggressive and purposeful, with its sharp headlights, muscular haunches, and signature tri-bar taillights. The GT has a presence that newer models arguably refined but never fully replicated. The 2014 model year retains a classic Mustang identity that many enthusiasts prefer over the more modernized S550 that followed.

Driving Experience

The 2014 Mustang GT excels at delivering emotion. It’s not the most balanced or technologically advanced pony car, but it’s one of the most engaging. The steering has satisfying weight, the V8 soundtrack is intoxicating, and the chassis—while imperfect—is lively and rewarding for drivers who appreciate a bit of mechanical honesty.
